The Middle-earth 12-day tour is a birding tour, but we also visit the movie set of Hobbiton.  This tour starts on the North Island in Auckland and travels to Christchurch on the South Island.  We will be taking the ferry in between islands.  There is also a boat trip to the Tiritiri Matangi Scientific Reserve. This birding tour moves at a nice slow pace and is excellent for photographers who want the time to get great shots of all the birds. 

• Travel Dates: September 27 – October 8, 2027
• Group Size: 8 travelers, spots left = 8
• Trip Length: 12 days
• Rate per person:  $5,730 per person (based on double occupancy), an extra $1,050 for single occupancy.
• Rates include:  Lodging, meals, daily tours, airport transfer, Picton to Wellington ferry, and basic travel insurance.
• Not included: International airfare* for arrival in Auckland (AKL) and departure from Christchurch (CHC), snacks, alcohol, dessert, and trip cancelation insurance.

• Reservations: To reserve a spot on the trip, a non-refundable 30% deposit is required, and the non-refundable balance is due six months prior to the trip.
