Join us for Guided Hiking and Camping in the Backcountry of Nuuk, Greenland
A trip of a lifetime!
This amazing 8-night/9-day journey through Greenland’s wilderness landscape, will be a fantastic combination of both cabin accommodation and tent camping. There will be wonderful hikes and unforgettable sites to see and every day a new adventure to breathtaking summits and stunning waterfront locations. Don’t forget your swimsuit if you want to swim in pure mountain water for a cold water dip. In the evening a warm hearty meal next to a cozy and relaxing fire.
This tour will be led by expert local guides with many years of experience providing top-notch service to tourists from all over the world. Our local guides will not just teach you about the natural history of Greenland and provide amazing daily hikes, but you will also come to know the local culture, cuisine, and customs of the Nuuk people.
Along our trekking route we hope to see birds, land mammals, and marine life. Around every corner, you never know what you will find. This tour will make you feel like a real explorer, walking along ancient paths and exploring new destinations that are slowly being revealed. And let's not forget the incredible views of mountains, glaciers, and icebergs.

Flight info for July 2025: United Airlines has flight UA80, leaving Newark (EWR) at 11:30am on July 19th. This is a 4-hour, non-stop flight, arriving in Nuuk (GOH) at 6:45pm. Return flight UA81, leaves Nuuk at 9:00am on Sunday July 27th and arrives at Newark at 10:30am. Because flight UA80 leaves Newark at 11:30am and if your are traveling from the western United States, you might have to book a separate ticket to Newark on July 18th and spend a night at the Newark airport to be able to catch the 11:30am flight. Your other option is to fly on Iceland Air to Reykjavik and transfer to a flight to Nuuk.
1) Is there cell service? No cell service, but there may be cell-service on some of the hikes
2) Can I bring alcohol on the trip? Yes, you are allowed to bring your own.
3) Is there a toilet? At the cabins yes, but at the tent camp no. Toilet paper and a shovel will be provided
4) What level of fitness is required? Moderate fitness level recommended, suitable for various skill levels.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival day
You will be met at the Nuuk International Airport (GOH) and transferred to the Hotel Hans Egede where we will stay for 1-night.
Day 2: Travel to Camping Cabins
Transfer to our cabin lodging where we will spend the next three nights. Once we are settle in, there will be an orientation about the adventure to come. There will be time to explore the surroundings and get to know your fellow travelers. In the evening, a dinner of local cuisine and a wonderful campfire under the arctic sky.
Day 3: Camping Cabins
Today the hiking adventure begins. We expect to cover up to 8 miles exploring the surrounding mountains and wilderness of this pristine area. With every step, there are stunning views and amazing clean, clear air to breath to invigorate your soul. After a full day of hiking, you might want to take a dip in the cold Arctic waters! If not you will have time to settle in and take a rest back at your cozy cabin before dinner.
Day 4: Camping Cabins
After a warm hearty breakfast, we will head to the summit of Mount Teqqiingalik, elevation 3,445 feet. At the summit you will get panoramic views of the fjords and surrounding peaks, and a full understanding of the geology of this beautiful, serene area. Back at our cabin camp, it is a warm dinner and relaxing by the fire. Hiking distance for the day: 4 miles.
Day 5: Travel to Tent Camp
After breakfast, we will pack up and take a boat to our expedition tent camp. It is an amazing boat ride through one of the world’s largest fjords. As we travel, we will be surrounded by peaks up to 3,280 feet, towering straight up the from the ocean. Once at our tent camp, you will have time to settle in and enjoy the surroundings and do some exploring. Dinner will be a delicious meal, freshly caught by local hunters and fisherman. You will experience true living in the backcountry, as a local.
Day 6: Tent Camp
A day of hiking and immersing yourself in the wonderous pristine wilderness surrounding our camp. The group hike will be about 8 miles. There will be time in the afternoon for doing our own exploring and relaxing at camp. At our camp, we will have a portable sauna. This is the traditional way: Sit in the sauna, go for a cold swim, and then back to the sauna, again and again! Dinner by the fire.
Day 7: Tent Camp
For our last full day of hiking, we will head up to the picturesque Shark Fin Massif. Total distance, about 6-miles. There will be time for paddle boarding, a swim and sauna, and relaxing by the fire. And once again, a freshly caught dinner cooked on the fire.
Day 8: Travel to Nuuk
Our last day in the backcountry. We will have a short 3-mile morning hike and then start preparing for the journey back to Nuuk. You will have time to relax and enjoy your last day at this amazing location. We will return to Nuuk and stay at the Hotel Hans Egede for 1-night.
Day 9: Departure day
There will be a shuttle to the airport for your flight home.
