Iceland really is a magical and mystical place. The natural wonders, birds and ocean life are unforgettable!
We start out this 14 day trip in Keflavik. This is a great area for whale watching, birding and hot springs. Next we will be flying up to Isafjödur for three days of birds and adventure. Then it is south to Reykjavik to tour Pingvellir National Park and Geyser. Next, it is a short flight to Akureyri for great landscapes and birds. We will spend our last 2 days back in Reykjavik.
Highlights: 1) Whale watching off the coast of Iceland. 2) Walking the coastline and footpaths in search of birds and adventure! 3) Standing next to incredible waterfalls and glacial valleys.

You should budget approximately $500 - $700 for meals not included in tour. If you prefer fine dining, you should budget more.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Fly to Iceland (fly day)
Flight are usually overnight with arrival on day two.
Day 2: Arrive in Keflavik (arrival day)
Flights usually arrive in the early morning. We will be flying into the international airport at Keflavik. The Reykjanes Peninsula will be our base for the next three days as we explore this area.
Day 3: Keflavik (birding & adventure day)
There is great whale watching and birding off the coast of Keflavik.
Day 4: Keflavik (birding & adventure day)
We will spend another day watching marine mammals, birding and checking out some very interesting geological sites.
Day 5: Isafjödur (travel & leisure day)
It is a one hour bus ride up to Reykjavik to catch the one hour flight to Isafjödur. We will be staying at the Gamla Gistihusio.
Day 6: Isafjödur (birding & adventure day)
Isafjödur is a small fishing village on the northeast coast. Travelers and traders have been stopping here for more then 400 years. There are also numerous bird colonies to visit. Walking paths leave from the town and the area is easy and wonderful to explore on foot.
Day 7: Isafjödur (birding & adventure day)
We will be taking a day trip along the coast and visiting several nature reserves in search of birds.
Day 8: Reykjavik (travel & culture day)
Reykjavik is the capital of Iceland and is rich in maritime history and close to numerous geological wonders. We will be staying at the Alfholl Guesthouse.
Day 9: Reykjavik (birding & adventure day)
Just outside of Iceland are several impressive geological sites. The area is known as the “Golden Circle”. Along this route we will be visiting roaring rivers, huge waterfalls, geysers and archeological sites.
Day 10: Akureyri (travel & leisure day)
It is a 1 hour flight from Reykjavik to Akureyri. Akureyri is a small town in north central Iceland. The town sits at the head of a fjord and is surrounded by snowcapped mountain peaks. We will be staying at the Petursborg Guesthouse.
Day 11: Akureyri (birding & adventure day)
Akureyri is close to several bird colonies. We will be taking boat tours up the fjord and visiting islands to experience the local flora and fauna.
Day 12: Akureyri (birding & adventure day)
There is a lot to do in this area and so we will spend the day in search of birds and adventure.
Day 13: Reykjavik (travel & leisure day)
Our last day in Reykjavik will be spent whale watching and looking for pelagic birds.
Day 14: Fly Home (tears & smile day)
Flights usually leave in the evening, so we will have time to visit Reykjavik one last time.
